If you’re looking for a Mister 01 South Beach review before deciding where to eat, the one thing you should know is this: they put coffee on pizza.
Yes. Coffee pizza.
And yes, it actually works.
Mister 01 has built a loyal following in Miami thanks to its creative star-shaped pizzas, thin crispy crust, and high-quality ingredients. The South Beach location is casual, small, and entirely focused on the food. No gimmicks, no over-the-top décor — just really good pizza that people line up for.
If you’re planning a Miami trip and mapping out where to eat around the beach, this stop fits perfectly into a broader South Beach food crawl. You can see more nearby restaurants in my guide to Where to Eat in South Beach Miami: A Local Food Guide.
If you're planning to stay nearby, I usually start by browsing hotels near South Beach on Booking.com so everything is within walking distance. South Beach traffic can be chaotic, and being able to walk to dinner is always a win.

The South Beach location is very small and very casual. This isn’t a big sit-down restaurant with tons of space. Tables fill up quickly, and it’s walk-in only, so you can’t reserve ahead of time.
My recommendation: arrive right when they open if you want a table.
If you come during peak dinner hours, expect a wait. The restaurant is popular and the space is limited. But honestly, the pizza is worth it.
The vibe is relaxed and easy. Nothing fancy. Just really really good pizza. And in a neighborhood full of expensive restaurants trying very hard to impress you, that simplicity is refreshing.

One of the reasons the pizza at Mister 01 stands out is the level of care that goes into it.
The restaurant was created by Italian chef Renato Viola, who grew up in Southern Italy and started working with pizza chefs when he was just 11 years old. Over the years he won multiple pizza competitions across Italy and Europe before eventually moving to Miami Beach.
In fact, he came to the United States on an O-1 visa, which is reserved for people with “extraordinary ability” in their field. In his case, that field is pizza. And once you try it, that story makes a lot more sense.
The dough at Mister 01 ferments for at least 72 hours, which is part of what gives the crust its light, airy texture. They also focus heavily on high-quality ingredients, many of which are imported directly from Italy.
It’s a simple formula — great dough, great ingredients, and consistency — but it’s done really well.

The menu has a lot of great options, but the star-shaped pizzas are what they’re famous for.
The crust is folded into points that are filled with ricotta, which makes every slice a little extra indulgent.
When we went, we ordered half Star Luca and half Star Beckham so we could try more of the menu. If you’re like me and always want to try everything, this is a great option.
Both pizzas were excellent.

The most famous pizza here is the Coffee Paolo, which sounds strange at first but works surprisingly well.
It combines tomato sauce, mozzarella, honey, spicy salami, and a light coffee powder dusting.
Sweet, salty, slightly spicy, and just a hint of coffee.
It sounds like it shouldn’t work.
But it absolutely does.
It’s one of those dishes you’ll still be talking about later.
We didn’t just stop at pizza.
We also ordered:
• Burrata with Italian balsamic
• A calzone
• Nutella pizza for dessert
The burrata is a great starter and pairs well with the pizzas.
The calzone is huge and definitely shareable.
And the Nutella pizza is the perfect way to end the meal if you want something sweet. At that point you’re already committed to the pizza theme, so dessert pizza just feels like the logical next step.

The pizzas are definitely shareable.
They’re large enough for two people to split depending on how hungry you are.
Most pizzas run around $20, which honestly feels very reasonable for South Beach.
Considering some restaurants in the area charge that much for a cocktail, paying $20 for a full pizza feels like a bargain. And after you taste this pizza you will gladly pay $20 again and again.
People come here for two reasons: the creativity and the quality.
The crust is crispy, the ingredients taste fresh, and the star-shaped pizzas make the whole experience a little different from your typical pizza spot.
It’s also the kind of place where you see both locals and tourists eating together, which is usually a good sign.
If you’re exploring more Italian food while you’re in Miami Beach, you should also see my full review of Macchialina Miami Beach, which is a completely different experience but one of the best Italian dinners in the area.
Pizza one night, handmade pasta the next. Balance.

If you’re a pizza lover, Mister 01 also offers something beyond just eating the food.
They host a pizza-making class through the Mister O1 Pizza School where you can learn how to make their pizzas from scratch.
During the class you’ll learn how they prepare the dough, stretch the pizza, and assemble the ingredients before baking it.
It’s a hands-on experience and a really fun activity if you’re visiting Miami and want something a little different to do. If you want to turn dinner into an activity, you can find the Mister O1 pizza-making class here.
Plus, you get to eat the pizza you make.
Which is obviously the best part.
If you’re flying into Miami for a trip that includes South Beach, it’s worth paying attention to your arrival time. Getting in earlier in the day makes it a lot easier to actually enjoy dinner instead of landing late and scrambling to find food. I usually compare flights on Skyscanner first so I can see which airlines arrive early enough to make a place like Mister 01 an easy first-night dinner instead of a “maybe tomorrow” plan.

A few quick things to know before visiting:
• The South Beach location is small
• It is walk-in only
• Expect a wait during busy dinner hours
• Try to arrive when they open if you want a table quickly
If you’re building out your Miami itinerary, you can also check out my guide to One Week in South Beach: The Ultimate 7-Day Miami Itinerary for more restaurants and things to do around the area.
Absolutely.
If I’m in South Beach and craving pizza, this is one of the first places I think about.
It’s casual, the food is consistently good, and the coffee pizza alone is worth trying at least once but trust me you'll get it again!
Honestly, I’d go back anytime I’m in South Beach.

If you go to Bimini and don’t get conch salad… what are you even doing? 🐚
I’m not exaggerating when I say this ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole trip. It’s a local staple, and after talking to enough people on the island, I realized fast, Bahamians have very strong opinions about where to get the best one.
So we made it a mission.
We tracked down the three spots that kept coming up over and over again, and I tried them all so you don’t have to guess.
Full breakdown is linked in bio. 🔗

This is where the day starts to feel less like a cruise stop and more like real life in Cozumel. You’ll find...
✨ fresh fruit and local food
✨ a fish market
✨ kitchenware, clothing, and random household items
✨ a few souvenirs
It’s not polished. It’s not designed for tourists. That’s the whole point.
Most vendors speak limited English and only accept pesos, so come prepared. I felt completely safe here, and it’s a good way to see a more local side of the island before heading into beach mode.

Cozumel is one of the easiest cruise ports to explore on your own if you know where to start.
✨ Walk straight off the ship into downtown San Miguel
✨ Grab coffee at a local café before the crowds hit
✨ Wander the waterfront, peek into a church, find a coconut stand
✨ Add a beach club or excursion if you want more
If you’re looking for a packed, every-minute-scheduled kind of port day, this isn’t that. But if you want easy, walkable, and low-stress with actual local flavor? Cozumel delivers every time. 🌊
Full itinerary linked in my story!
Lunch with a side of snorkel gear? Yes, please. 🌊 @tortugasbeachclubcozumel in Cozumel is the kind of stop where you show up for food and somehow end up on a paddleboard an hour later... and honestly, no complaints.
The day pass runs about $22–$25 and comes loaded:
✨ Lounge chairs + restrooms/showers ✨ Snorkel gear, kayaks & paddleboards ✨ Inflatable water park ✨ WiFi & parking ✨ Fresh guacamole nearby (non-negotiable)
The water is clear like, actually stop-and-stare clear and perfect for snorkeling right off the shore. Fair warning though: this isn’t your lay-flat-and-do-nothing beach. It’s an active stop, and if that’s not your vibe, it might not be your spot.
But if snorkeling is the whole point of your Cozumel day? You can also book a guided tour ahead of time, way more structured and worth it if you want to make the most of the water. 🤿
If you’re flying into or out of South Florida, chances are you’ll pass through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).✈️
• Only 10 min from the beach & cruise port — perfect location!
• 4 color-coded terminals — Yellow, Red, Purple & Green
• Gate C tip: water bottle fillers are UPSTAIRS, not at the gate level
• Arrive 2 hrs early for domestic, 3 hrs for international flights
• Food options include Shake Shack, Starbucks & more — eat AFTER security
• Uber/Lyft pickup is easy & organized — but wait 10-15 min if surge pricing is high
• Rental car center is near Terminal 1 with all major companies available
• Cruising? FLL is basically next door to Port Everglades — super convenient!
My Fort Lauderdale Airport guide covers what to expect before you fly, from terminal layout to transportation and food options.
