If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic mountain escape with all the comforts of home, this Sky Ridge Yurts review will cover everything you need to know before booking. Sky Ridge Yurts sits tucked into the mountains near Bryson City, offering one of the most comfortable glamping experiences in Western North Carolina.
It’s the perfect home base if you’re exploring the area, and if you want more ideas for planning your trip, check out my Weekend in Bryson City & Dillsboro, NC guide for a full breakdown of things to do, places to eat, and easy day trips.

Sky Ridge Yurts is located just outside Bryson City, perched on a quiet ridge with sweeping mountain views. Before your stay, they send detailed directions straight to your phone so you know exactly how to find your yurt. This comes in handy because the final stretch is a gravel road—not difficult, but definitely something to be prepared for. Everything is pretty spread out so if you want to explore Bryson City, Sylva, and the Smokies while you’re here, renting a car makes it a lot easier. Don’t roll up in a low-profile car expecting a perfectly paved resort driveway. The drive is scenic and sets the mood immediately for a peaceful, unplugged getaway.
Check-in couldn’t be easier. Instead of waiting in a lobby or meeting someone onsite, they text you a door code before arrival. You pull right up to your yurt, park next to the door, punch in your code, and walk in. That’s it. No fuss and no waiting around.

We stayed in the Junaluska Yurt, which comfortably sleeps six and feels more like a stylish mountain cabin than a traditional yurt. There are two real queen bedrooms with actual doors—an instant win if you’re traveling with another couple or want to tuck kids away so you can enjoy a quiet drink outside.
The living room has a huge, soft sectional that easily converts into a third queen bed. There’s a full kitchen stocked with everything you need to cook, a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, and toiletries, including a hair dryer. Parking is literally a few feet from the entrance, which makes unloading bags a breeze.
My favorite part? The wraparound porch and private fire pit area. You get free firewood, a picnic table, a gas grill, and those wide-open Smoky Mountain sunsets you can’t help but stare at. If you need anything at all, the staff is just a quick text away—another small but helpful touch that makes the whole stay feel effortless.
For more unique stays across the area, you can learn more in my post about Where to Stay in Western North Carolina if you want additional yurts, cabins, and lakefront options.

Sky Ridge Yurts isn’t a resort with amenities or activities built in. It’s a beautiful, peaceful mountaintop property designed for relaxing, reading, unplugging, and watching the sky change all evening long. We arrived right at sunset, and it was absolutely stunning—the kind of golden hour that makes you stop mid-sentence. If you can time your arrival around sunset, do it. If you want to mix in a little exploring, you can browse Smoky Mountain tours and activities here.

There’s no onsite restaurant, so you’ll want to plan meals ahead. You’re only a short drive from Bryson City, Dillsboro, or Sylva, both of which have great restaurants, breweries, bakeries, and coffee shops. If you’d rather stay in and cook, the kitchen makes it incredibly easy—just bring groceries and you’re set.

A one- to two-night stay works great for a quick glamping getaway. If you’re planning to explore Bryson City, hike in the Great Smoky Mountains, or enjoy slow mornings on the porch with coffee and views, two to three nights feels just right.
Sky Ridge Yurts is comfortable, private, and perfectly positioned for anyone looking to unwind in the Smokies without sacrificing comfort. The views, the sunsets, the porch, the fire pit—it all comes together to create an easy, peaceful mountain escape you actually look forward to all year. Whether you’re exploring the region or simply want a quiet place to breathe mountain air and disconnect, this spot delivers every time.

10 stops. One very full day. Zero regrets. Amsterdam has one of the best food scenes I’ve experienced anywhere in Europe, but the honest caveat is that some of the viral spots come with lines that will genuinely test your character. I skipped a few. I regret nothing.
Here’s what actually made the cut on my self-guided Amsterdam food tour:
Fresh stroopwafels at Hans Egstorf: made right in front of you, warm caramel, no line. This one won.
Lourens cookie croissant: flaky outside, gooey chocolate inside. Did not share.
Café Winkel 43 apple pie: one of the rare viral places that fully lives up to the hype.
Davie’s Amsterdam for the Lelie sandwich: pastrami, pickles, marbled bread. Deceptively simple. Absolutely excellent.
De Kaaskamer to end the day: 400+ cheeses, grilled cheese with what they call ketchup (it’s not ketchup, and it’s better), and bunker cheese aged in underground military bunkers.
The full route covers 10 stops through Jordaan, the 9 Streets, the canal district, and the flower market area with a Google Map included so you can just follow along.

There’s a version of Gatlinburg that’s all fudge shops and tourist crowds, and then there’s the version that actually makes you want to come back.
Here’s everything worth doing downtown, in the order I’d do it: 🏔️
✨ Start at @gatlinburgskypark before the crowds hit
✨ Walk the strip mid-morning when it’s still manageable
✨ @googooclusters stop (see my post from Tuesday: don’t skip it)
✨ Dinner at one of the local spots off the main drag
✨ Wander back out at night when the lights are on and it gets actually pretty
This isn’t your overscheduled Smoky Mountain itinerary. It’s more of a “here’s what I’d actually do if I had one solid day” kind of list.

If someone told me I’d spend five hours at SkyPark, I would not have believed them. And yet. 😅
Gatlinburg SkyPark sits above the strip and it’s one of those places that looks like a quick stop on paper and turns into most of your afternoon. The SkyBridge alone is worth it — longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America, and yes, you will look down.
✨ SkyBridge (longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America)
✨ SkyLift ride up with views of the Smokies
✨ Walking trails with mountain views in every direction
✨ Way less crowded than downtown
Fair warning: if heights genuinely freak you out, the bridge might not be your thing. The rest of the park is still 100% worth it. Full guide with tickets, tips, and what to skip linked in bio. 🔗
I walked into Goo Goo Cluster in downtown Gatlinburg thinking I’d spend five minutes and leave with a small piece of candy. I was wrong on both counts. 😅
You build your own chocolate cluster at a kiosk: caramel, sea salt, pretzels, cocoa pebbles, you name it, and then watch them make it right in front of you. The whole thing takes about 15 minutes and costs $15.
The caveat? This is not a snack. This is a full-size brick of chocolate that I was still eating two days later.
If you’re already walking the Gatlinburg strip, this is an easy yes. Especially if you have absolutely no self-control around caramel. (Asking for a friend.) Full experience breakdown linked in bio. 🔗
Your Knoxville Airport survival guide, from someone who’s flown through TYS 100+ times is now up on my blog🛫
Parking, TSA wait times, where to grab food before your flight, rental cars, all of it, from someone who actually knows this airport. No guessing, no googling at the last minute.
TYS is small, easy to navigate, and honestly one of the less stressful airports I’ve been through. You just need to know a few things going in.
