Ritz-Carlton Dubai, Jumeirah Beach is about a 30β40 minute drive from Dubai International Airport depending on traffic. Taxis and ride-shares are straightforward, and if youβre already staying around JBR or Dubai Marina, the area is extremely walkable.
One important thing to know going in: this is not a tower-style hotel. The resort is large and spread out, designed more like a private beachfront compound than a high-rise. Landscaped gardens, walking paths, and multiple beach access points connect everything. Itβs beautifulβbut plan a few extra minutes to walk between your room, the lobby, restaurants, and the beach.
If you like having flexibility to explore beyond JBR, renting a car in Dubai makes this much easier, especially for day trips to Palm Jumeirah or Downtown. I usually check Discover Cars to compare options ahead of time so Iβm not dealing with last-minute logistics.
Arrival immediately sets the tone. Youβre welcomed with refreshing drinks and a cool, essential-oil-scented cloth that feels amazing after traveling. Luggage is handled right away, and everything feels calm and effortless from the start.
The main lobby acts as the hub of the resort, with gardens and pathways branching toward the beach, pools, and restaurants. Despite the size, it never feels chaotic or overwhelming, which I really appreciated.
Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and classic Ritz-Carlton rather than ultra-modern. Many rooms have balconies with garden or sea views, which makes a big difference if you like spending mornings or evenings outside.
The shower deserves special mentionβhands down one of my favorites in all my travels. Multiple body jets, a rain shower, and a standard shower head make it feel genuinely indulgent. Robes and slippers are provided (always a win), and nightly turndown includes little treats. The pillow spray was a standout for meβfresh, relaxing, and not just a gimmick.
This is a true beachfront resort, and it shows. Pool and beach service is attentive without being intrusive, and theyβll randomly bring around small snacks like fruit on a stick, which is such a thoughtful touch.
There are multiple pools, including a main pool, adults-only pool, and family-friendly pools. If youβre visiting in December when temperatures are cooler, note that the kidsβ pool is fully shaded and stays pretty chilly. The main pool gets better sun depending on the time of day, but honestly, the beach is the winner. By afternoon, the sun is perfect, and lounging under an umbrella is exactly what you want it to be.
Inside the resort, everything is walkable, but bigger than it looks on a map. Outside the gates, JBR is packed with dining and shopping options, so you never feel stuck at the hotel.
The Ritz-Carlton Dubai doesnβt just cater to pool loungersβthereβs a surprising amount to do. Amenities include a full spa with steam rooms and sauna, a 24-hour gym, tennis and padel courts, a kids club, and small retail shops near the lobby.
Activity options are extensive: tennis, pΓ©tanque, cornhole, badminton, giant chess, giant Jenga, table tennis, paddle tennis, soft archery, beach football, and beach volleyball. Fitness-wise, thereβs a fully equipped gym plus personal training, outdoor jogging routes, kettlebell workouts, core and circuit training, boot camps, spinning, Pilates, and yoga.
On the water, you can book watersports like stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, wakeboarding, banana and donut rides, fishing, yacht cruises, and even e-foil. If you want to lock something in ahead of time, you can book watersports and beach activities here, which is helpful during busier seasons.
Breakfast is at Caravan, the main dining venue. It gets busiest between about 9:30β11:00 a.m., so earlier is calmer if youβre not a fan of crowds.
Lunch at La Baie was a highlight. Spending over 200 dirhams gets you access to cabanas at the adults-only pool, which is very easy to do. We started with the cucumber salad with dillβlight and refreshing, though Iβd ask for light yogurt sauce next time. Brad ordered the Gulf prawn with potato croquettes, sour cream, rocket pesto, and fennel slaw. It was crunchy, savory, and really well-balanced.
I had the corn-fed chicken roulade with roasted artichoke, trumpet mushrooms, and mushroom cream, which I loved (especially the mushrooms). Brad also ordered the lemon sole meuniΓ¨re with capers, parsley, lemon, and beurre noisetteβsimple, classic, and executed perfectly.
Other dining options on property include Italian, Arabic, Latin American, casual poolside spots, a beach bar, and lounge-style venues for drinks or light bites. Dress codes are mostly smart-casual and relaxed, not stuffy.

The tulip fields in the Netherlands look exactly like the photos, except the photos donβt capture how massive the color blocks actually are stretching across the countryside. Or the windmills. 10 stops. One very full day. Zero regrets. Amsterdam has one of the best food scenes Iβve experienced anywhere in Europe, but the honest caveat is that some of the viral spots come with lines that will genuinely test your character. I skipped a few. I regret nothing.
Hereβs what actually made the cut on my self-guided Amsterdam food tour:
Fresh stroopwafels at Hans Egstorf: made right in front of you, warm caramel, no line. This one won.
Lourens cookie croissant: flaky outside, gooey chocolate inside. Did not share.
CafΓ© Winkel 43 apple pie: one of the rare viral places that fully lives up to the hype.
Davieβs Amsterdam for the Lelie sandwich: pastrami, pickles, marbled bread. Deceptively simple. Absolutely excellent.
De Kaaskamer to end the day: 400+ cheeses, grilled cheese with what they call ketchup (itβs not ketchup, and itβs better), and bunker cheese aged in underground military bunkers.

Gatlinburg SkyPark sits above the strip and itβs one of those places that looks like a quick stop on paper and turns into most of your afternoon. The SkyBridge alone is worth it β longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America, and yes, you will look down.
