The best dinner restaurants in Key West really depend on what kind of night you want.
Some restaurants are best for sunset views. Some are better for a nicer sit-down dinner. Some are more casual and work better when you want good food without making the evening feel like an event. And some are really about the atmosphere, because Key West does that very well.
This guide breaks down the best dinner restaurants in Key West based on real trip notes, personal experience, local recommendations, and the places that stood out most while planning and eating our way through the island.
If you are trying to decide where to eat dinner in Key West, I would start by thinking about what kind of night you want: sunset views, waterfront dining, a romantic dinner, tapas, seafood, Italian, or a more upscale meal.
Because in Key West, dinner can mean anything from eating tacos on the water in sandals to planning your entire evening around a reservation.
Both are acceptable. Very Key West, honestly.

Café Marquesa was my favorite dinner in Key West and my pick for the best overall dinner restaurant.
It serves an upscale menu focused on fresh local seafood, Southern flavors, and creative takes on classic dishes. You will find things like fresh oysters, crab bisque, Key West shrimp and grits, local yellowtail snapper, lobster tail, swordfish, duck breast, and prime ribeye.
Overall, Café Marquesa feels refined without feeling stuffy. The food is thoughtfully prepared, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the menu does a great job showcasing local ingredients and flavors.
It also goes a little under the radar for dessert. Their Key lime pie was my favorite of the trip, but I break that down more in my Best Key Lime Pie in Key West guide if you want the full pie ranking.

Louie’s Backyard is one of the most iconic dinner restaurants in Key West, especially if you want an oceanfront setting.
The restaurant sits right on the water, and the view is a major part of the experience. It works especially well for a special occasion dinner, a sunset meal, or a nicer night out where the setting matters just as much as the food.
The menu is more upscale, with dishes like Florida lobster, tuna and avocado napoleon, lamb chops, swordfish, salmon, and filet of beef.
If you want one of the best waterfront dinners in Key West, Louie’s Backyard would be high on my list.
Bagatelle feels very classic Key West.
It is housed in a beautiful historic home right on Duval Street, with wraparound porches and a setting that feels more distinct than a basic restaurant space.
The menu covers a lot of ground, with seafood, steaks, Southern influences, and Caribbean flavors. The lobster mac and cheese immediately caught my attention.
Bagatelle is a good option if you want a restaurant that feels distinctly Key West while still offering a more upscale dinner experience. It works well for couples, small groups, or anyone who wants to eat on Duval Street without choosing the most casual option available.
Nine One Five is a strong choice if you want a nicer dinner on Duval Street without the meal feeling overly formal.
The restaurant is set in a historic home and has a more elevated menu with creative seafood dishes, house-made pastas, and shareable plates. Dishes that stood out to me were the yellowtail snapper, seafood fettuccine, crab ravioli, swordfish, and Wagyu bolognese.
This is one of the restaurants I would consider for a splurge dinner in Key West.
Between the historic setting, strong food menu, wine program, and consistently positive reviews, it is the type of restaurant many people seem to feel is worth the higher price point.
Point 5 is the upstairs cocktail lounge connected to Nine One Five.
The menu is smaller, but it has interesting dishes like beef carpaccio, tuna gravlax, Mongolian ribs, Mediterranean octopus, burrata salad, and General Tso’s cauliflower.
This feels more like a place to share a few plates, have cocktails, and hang out for the evening rather than sit down for a traditional full dinner.
The balcony overlooking Duval Street would also be hard to beat for people-watching.
And in Key West, people-watching is basically a scheduled activity.
Hot Tin Roof is a restaurant you plan an entire evening around.
Located inside Ocean Key Resort, it overlooks the harbor and has some of the best sunset views in Key West. This is the type of dinner reservation where timing really matters because the view is a huge part of the experience.
The menu combines local seafood, Caribbean flavors, seasonal ingredients, and elevated comfort food. Between the waterfront setting, harbor views, creative cocktails, and chef-driven menu, it feels special without feeling too formal.
If you are trying to choose one sunset dinner in Key West, Hot Tin Roof would be one of my top recommendations.
The view includes boats coming and going, Sunset Pier activity, and a direct sunset vantage point. It gives you a lot to look at before the sky even starts changing colors.

Santiago’s Bodega is probably the dinner spot I would recommend if you like sharing plates and trying a little bit of everything.
The menu is full of small plates, including tuna ceviche, beef short ribs, lamb, burrata, Brussels sprouts, shrimp and chorizo, and patatas bravas.
This is the type of restaurant where you could easily order way more than you planned because everything sounds good.
It also has one of the best atmospheres for a fun dinner in Key West. The tapas format makes it social, the dining room feels lively, and it works well for groups because everyone can try different dishes.
If you do not want a quiet, formal dinner, Santiago’s Bodega would be a good choice.
Red Shoe Island Bistro came up several times in local recommendations.
Based on what people rave about most, the standout savory dishes seem to be the Yellowtail Snapper, the Seafood Medley, and the Lobster Roll Profiteroles appetizer.
The Seafood Medley comes with scallops, mussels, and Key West pink shrimp over fettuccine, which sounds like a very reasonable decision if you are in Key West and want seafood.
The restaurant is especially known for fresh local seafood, so if you only order a few things, those are the dishes that seem to get the most consistent praise from visitors and locals.
Multiple locals also pointed me toward Red Shoe Bistro specifically for dessert. The Key lime pie and lavender cheesecake were mentioned repeatedly, which is saying something in a town that takes Key lime pie very seriously. As it should.
Little Pearl looks like one of the more creative dining experiences in Key West.
The menu changes regularly and includes unique dishes and flavor combinations you do not see on every Key West menu. Things like lobster corn dogs, bao buns, maple salmon, seared scallops, duck breast, and salted pumpkin caramel churros caught my attention immediately.
This is the restaurant I would recommend for people who enjoy a more chef-driven meal and want something different from traditional Key West seafood.
It is also one of the hardest reservations to get in Key West because seating is limited and the restaurant is in high demand.
If Little Pearl is high on your list, I would book early.
Café Solé is a great option if you want something more refined and French-inspired.
The menu is seafood-heavy, with dishes like yellowtail snapper, tuna, grouper, lobster tail, and bouillabaisse. They also have options like duck à l’orange and rack of lamb.
This is a good date-night option if you want a more intimate dinner that still feels relaxed.
Café Solé is also one of the best seafood dinner options in Key West, especially for people who want fresh seafood with more creative preparation than a basic grilled fish plate.
Dorada is a strong choice for a more upscale waterfront dinner.
Located inside Casa Marina, the restaurant blends seafood, Mediterranean, Latin, and Asian influences. The menu includes dishes like tuna tartare tostadas, fresh local catch, seafood pasta, lamb, and jumbo prawns.
The oceanfront setting is the main draw here.
This is the dinner I would consider for a special occasion, especially if you want ocean views, a more polished atmosphere, and a menu that feels more elevated than a casual seafood shack.
Latitudes is probably the most romantic restaurant in Key West.
The private ferry ride, island setting, beachside tables, and sunset views make it feel very different from a normal dinner in Old Town. You have to take the boat over to Sunset Key, so this is not a last-minute, walk-in kind of dinner.
This is the dinner I would book for an anniversary, honeymoon, birthday trip, or any night where you want the setting to feel more memorable.
Just make sure you factor in the ferry timing when you make your reservation. You do not want to cut it too close, especially around sunset.
Atlas Izakaya was one of the dinner spots that surprised me most.
When people think of Key West dining, they usually picture seafood, Cuban food, Key lime pie, and waterfront restaurants. Atlas Izakaya completely breaks that pattern.
The menu focuses on Japanese-inspired small plates, ramen, dumplings, yakitori, ceviche, and creative seafood dishes using local ingredients.
This feels like the place I would recommend when you have already had several seafood dinners and want something completely different.
The shareable format also makes it a fun option for groups that like trying a little bit of everything. Finding a restaurant like this in Key West was unexpected, which is exactly why it stands out.
Antonia’s is a longtime Key West restaurant that keeps showing up on recommendation lists for a reason.
The menu is heavily Italian, with house-made pastas, seafood linguine, lasagna, gnocchi, osso buco, veal dishes, and filet mignon.
If you are looking for a romantic dinner that feels more traditional and upscale, Antonia’s would be high on my list.
The seafood linguine and lasagna are dishes people return for again and again.
This would be a good choice if you want a break from the waterfront seafood scene but still want a classic Key West dinner experience.
Onlywood Grill is a strong option if you love Italian food.
The menu includes homemade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, fresh seafood, and steaks. The lobster ravioli, saffron shrimp risotto, seafood spaghetti, and imported wood-fired pizzas would probably be where I would start.
This feels like the place for a longer dinner where you order wine, settle in, and fully commit to carbs.
Excellent decision honestly.
SM Onlywood is a solid choice if you are craving Italian food in Key West.
The menu has house-made pastas, Roman-style pizzas, seafood, steaks, and even osso buco. The lobster and shrimp fettuccine caught my attention, along with the truffle pizza and lobster cake.
If you are looking for something a little more elevated than a casual pizza place, this seems like a good option.
Between Onlywood Grill and SM Onlywood, Italian food is clearly not hard to find in Key West. This is useful information for anyone who reaches the point in a beach trip where they suddenly need pasta. A normal and valid travel need.
If you are looking for a casual meal with a view, Sunset Pier is hard to beat.
It sits right on the water at Ocean Key Resort, and the atmosphere is just as much of the experience as the food. This is a colorful, casual, waterfront spot where you can grab dinner, watch the boats, listen to live music, and see the sunset.
The menu is casual, with things like ceviche, peel-and-eat shrimp, mahi tacos, poke bowls, burgers, and tropical drinks.
I would treat Sunset Pier more like a place to grab a drink, enjoy casual food, and take in the view rather than somewhere I would go specifically for a fancy dinner.
For a relaxed Key West dinner with a waterfront setting, it makes a lot of sense.
Tavern N Town feels a little more elevated while still being approachable.
The menu has a wide mix of seafood, steaks, lamb chops, pasta, burgers, and pizza, so it is a good option if you are traveling with people who all want different things.
The lobster tail, local catch, prime rib, and Wagyu burger immediately caught my attention. This feels like a practical dinner choice for groups because almost everyone should be able to find something they want.
Matt’s Stock Island Kitchen & Bar is a great option if you are spending time on Stock Island and want something nicer than a casual seafood shack.
The menu focuses on local seafood, with dishes like yellowfin tuna tartare, Key West pink shrimp cocktail, shrimp linguine, seafood towers, oysters, and blackened mahi.
The marina views are another reason to go.
This feels like the type of place where you could linger over dinner and watch the boats come in. It is also helpful if you are staying on Stock Island or want a dinner option away from the busiest parts of Old Town.

Flying Monkey is not one of the restaurants that gets talked about constantly online, but several locals recommended it to me.
The menu changes regularly, everything is made from scratch, and the chef has developed a loyal following. The mahi-mahi came up multiple times as a favorite.
This is a very casual dinner option, so I would not book it for a fancy night out. But if you want something more local and low-key, it is one I would keep on your list.

Key West is very casual, even at the nicer restaurants.
You do not need fancy clothes, and most restaurants do not have a strict dress code beyond wearing a shirt and shoes.
If you are wondering what to pack, think sundresses, linen shirts, shorts, sandals, and lightweight resort wear. You will definitely see people dressed up for a special occasion, but you will also see people heading to dinner straight from a day of exploring.
That is part of the charm.
And honestly, in that humidity, formalwear feels like a personal attack.
For long walking days followed by dinner, I would pack comfortable sandals, lightweight clothes, and something like Thigh Society if you know Key West humidity is going to test your patience. It will.
Parking can be a challenge in Key West, especially in Old Town.
Very few restaurants have dedicated parking, and golf cart parking can be just as difficult as finding a spot for a car. If you are staying nearby, walking is often the easiest option.
Scooter parking is usually much easier to find, which is one reason so many visitors rent them while they are in Key West. Otherwise, plan on using a rideshare or allowing extra time to find parking before your reservation.
If you are flying into Key West and deciding whether you need a rental car, check prices through Discover Cars, but for Old Town specifically, walking or rideshare is often easier than dealing with parking every night.
I highly recommend making reservations for dinner in Key West, especially during busy travel seasons.
Some restaurants do not take reservations, but many do, and popular spots can book up quickly.
This is especially true for places like Little Pearl, Latitudes, Hot Tin Roof, Café Marquesa, and other smaller or more popular dinner restaurants.
If you are running late, call ahead. Most restaurants will only hold your table for a short period.
One thing to keep in mind is that menus change often in Key West.
Seafood availability, seasonal ingredients, chef specials, and restaurant concepts can all shift over time. If there is a specific dish you are hoping to try, check the restaurant’s website or current menu before your visit.
This is especially important for seafood-focused restaurants and smaller chef-driven spots.

For dinner and walking around Old Town, I would keep it lightweight and practical: comfortable sandals, a small crossbody, sunscreen, and something easy to carry.
A Phone and Wallet Crossbody Strap is helpful if you do not want to carry a full bag to dinner, and a Clutch Powerbank is useful if your phone is doing maps, photos, reservations, and sunset pictures all day.
I would also pack SuperGoop Face Sunscreen, because even if dinner is the plan, Key West usually involves walking around before dinner pretending you are “just going to explore for a minute.”
If I were planning a Key West dinner itinerary again, I would prioritize Café Marquesa for the best overall meal, Hot Tin Roof for sunset, Louie’s Backyard for waterfront dining, Latitudes for romance, and Santiago’s Bodega for a fun group dinner.
For something different, I would look at Atlas Izakaya. For Italian, I would consider Antonia’s or Onlywood Grill. For a special occasion, Dorada and Nine One Five would both be strong contenders.
Key West has plenty of casual food, seafood shacks, and waterfront bars, but the dinner scene is better than just grabbing something near Duval and hoping for the best.
A little planning helps here, especially if you care about sunset timing, reservations, parking, or dessert. I care about all of those things. Especially dessert.
There’s a little cottage tucked inside a forest just south of Amsterdam that serves giant Dutch pancakes, and somehow I ended up there on a bike ride with no plan and left completely obsessed. 🥞
Boerderij Meerzicht is inside Amsterdamse Bos, Amsterdam’s massive outdoor park full of biking trails, canals, deer, and families spending the whole afternoon outside. It doesn’t feel like a tourist spot. It feels like something locals actually go to, which is exactly why I liked it.
Dutch pancakes are nothing like American pancakes. They’re huge, thin, somewhere between a crepe and a flapjack, and the toppings cover the whole thing. The honest caveat: the ordering system is slightly confusing at first because pancakes are ordered separately from everything else. Watch one other table do it and suddenly it all makes sense.
I got the apple pancake with cinnamon and powdered sugar, and it was exactly what I wanted. Also got the savory bacon, apple, and syrup combination, which sounds wrong and tasted very right.

The tulip fields in the Netherlands look exactly like the photos, except the photos don’t capture how massive the color blocks actually are stretching across the countryside. Or the windmills. Or the sheep randomly standing in the middle of everything like they don’t know they’re in the most photogenic country on earth.
The honest caveat: tulip season moves fast, the fields rotate every year, and peak bloom is not a guarantee, it depends on the weather, the harvest schedule, and a little bit of luck. But that’s also part of what makes it feel less like a tourist attraction and more like something you actually found.

10 stops. One very full day. Zero regrets. Amsterdam has one of the best food scenes I’ve experienced anywhere in Europe, but the honest caveat is that some of the viral spots come with lines that will genuinely test your character. I skipped a few. I regret nothing.
Here’s what actually made the cut on my self-guided Amsterdam food tour:
Fresh stroopwafels at Hans Egstorf: made right in front of you, warm caramel, no line. This one won.
Lourens cookie croissant: flaky outside, gooey chocolate inside. Did not share.
Café Winkel 43 apple pie: one of the rare viral places that fully lives up to the hype.
Davie’s Amsterdam for the Lelie sandwich: pastrami, pickles, marbled bread. Deceptively simple. Absolutely excellent.
De Kaaskamer to end the day: 400+ cheeses, grilled cheese with what they call ketchup (it’s not ketchup, and it’s better), and bunker cheese aged in underground military bunkers.

There’s a version of Gatlinburg that’s all fudge shops and tourist crowds, and then there’s the version that actually makes you want to come back.
Here’s everything worth doing downtown, in the order I’d do it: 🏔️
