If you’re looking for a Jade Mountain St. Lucia review that’s honest, detailed, and based on actually staying here (not just drooling over Instagram photos), this is it. Jade Mountain is dramatic, quiet, wildly romantic, and unlike anywhere else I’ve ever stayed. It’s also not a resort you just casually book without understanding what you’re getting into—so let’s get into the real experience.
The road to Jade Mountain is rough. Like, very rough. Expect slow driving, tight turns, and sections where the road narrows to one lane and you politely negotiate with oncoming traffic. We rented a tiny Chevy Spark and made it just fine—but slow is the name of the game. The drive after you get off the main road takes about 15–20 minutes, and yes, you will absolutely think, “Am I on the right road?” You are.
If you’re renting a car, renting a car makes this much easier when you want flexibility in Soufrière—I recommend checking Discover Cars for rentals in St. Lucia, especially if you’re comfortable driving narrow island roads.
If you’re not renting a car, or you want to arrive like a total legend, Jade Mountain has a helipad on property. A helicopter transfer is hands-down the most extra (and amazing) way to arrive. I didn’t mind the drive, but the helicopter would absolutely elevate the experience.

The moment you arrive, you’re greeted by your Major Domo—Jade Mountain’s name for their personal butlers. Ours met us with a fully stocked fridge and special snacks waiting in the room, which was perfect because we were starving and dinner was still hours away.
You’re given a dedicated cell phone for your Major Domo, and it’s genuinely useful. Breakfast in bed? Text. Need reservations, spa appointments, or help with literally anything? Text. The service here is warm, thoughtful, and effortless without being overbearing.

Let’s talk about the rooms—because this is the reason you come.
Jade Mountain rooms are called “sanctuaries,” and they’re all open-air—which means no air conditioning. You get a constant breeze, plenty of fans, and cooler temperatures at night, but it is not cool in the traditional sense. If you sleep with your thermostat set to 67 🙋🏽♀️, it will feel warm.
For me, the views, service, and overall room experience more than made up for it. Worth it? Completely. But if you absolutely need cold air to sleep, this is something to seriously consider before booking.
You’ll also hear nature. Birds in the morning, frogs at night—everything. It’s part of the experience. I’m not a morning person, so the early bird soundtrack was… aggressive. If you are a morning person, you’ll probably already be awake anyway. A sound machine helps a lot, and once I adjusted, I was totally fine. All rooms have netting around the bed, and I didn’t get a single mosquito bite.
Here’s how the room categories break down:
This is the lowest category and does not have a private pool. You still get the open-air concept and views, but no pool.
These have smaller private pools and good Piton views, though some may feel slightly more framed or partially obstructed. This is the best option if you want a private pool but are trying to keep the splurge slightly contained (not that anything here is cheap—let’s be honest).
One of my favorites. These have long pools that run through the room, more space than Star Sanctuaries, and excellent, more open Piton views.
Absolutely breathtaking. This is hands down my favorite room I’ve ever stayed in—anywhere. The room is massive. The pool is massive. The Piton views are completely unobstructed. It’s the kind of space where you just stand there in silence for a minute when you walk in.
This is the highest category at Jade Mountain. Galaxy Sanctuaries are the most expansive, featuring wraparound infinity pools, the most dramatic vantage points, and ultimate privacy. If you’re going all out, this is as high as it gets.

Jade Mountain sits high on the hillside, and there are a lot of stairs. If stairs and walking aren’t your thing, this may not be the resort for you. My husband and I loved walking the property after dinner—it’s a great way to explore and work off dessert.
Guests have access to two black-sand beaches via shuttle:
Anse Chastanet Beach
Anse Mamin Beach
Both were calm, quiet, and surprisingly clear when we visited. They ended up being my second favorite beaches on the island. (Rodney Bay still holds first place—see my Sandals Grande post if you’re curious.)
Dining at the beaches is excellent. At Anse Chastanet, there’s an Indian restaurant, and at Anse Mamin, Jungle Grill is right on the sand. The watermelon gazpacho was a standout—so fresh and refreshing that I ordered it every single visit. Everything is farm-to-table from Emerald Farm, including the angus beef from cows raised on the property.
I had the angus burger with pickled jalapeños, grilled pineapple, BBQ sauce, and then added banana ketchup. Trust me. Try it. Banana ketchup is made locally on the island, and yes, you can tour the banana farm.

Dining here is an experience. The restaurant views rival the room views, which is saying something. We booked dinner specifically for sunset—I literally Googled sunset times for that date and made reservations accordingly. It was perfect.
The bread service deserves a moment. My favorite was a crunchy, chip-like bread paired with a cocoa butter spread that I’m still thinking about. The chef also sent out a complimentary bite before dinner, and since I don’t love seafood, they brought me a vegetable option that was incredibly flavorful.
We ordered:
Angus beef stir fry
Bao bun
Tiger shrimp creole
Mahi mahi
Steak
Dessert was fine, but honestly, I’d skip it. There were chocolates waiting for us in the room afterward, and those were more than enough.
One thing Jade Mountain does exceptionally well is making you feel like nothing is too much trouble. Your Major Domo can handle everything from unpacking and pressing clothes to romantic dinners on your terrace and packing you back up when you leave.
Yoga on the Celestial Terrace
Full fitness center
Wi-Fi
Daily live entertainment at the Jade Mountain Club
Anse Chastanet Beach access with chairs and towels
Snorkeling, windsurfing, sea kayaking, sunfish sailing
Tennis courts and clinics
Guided nature walks with the resort naturalist, Meno
Beach yoga sessions
Chocolate tastings, mixology classes, art classes
Underwater slideshow at the scuba center
Anse Mamin Plantation Walk on select days
You also have access to the Jungle Bike Center, Kayak St. Lucia, Spa Kai Belte, and boutiques at both properties.

Wellness is woven into the experience here. Daily offerings include yoga, Pilates, HIIT, core strengthening, and sessions with the resort’s wellness practitioner, Chamu. A wellness consultation is complimentary.
And then there’s the pillow menu. You can choose from lavender-infused, goose down, cooling pillows, orthopedic options, bamboo pillows, full-body cooling pillows, and even a maternity “Babymoon” pillow. It’s one of those details that sounds extra until you’re using it—and then it makes perfect sense.
You could easily spend a full week here if your goal is total disconnect and quiet. This is a peaceful, intimate resort where you hear nature, not nightlife.
If you’re more active, I recommend 2–3 nights at Jade Mountain, then heading north to a more lively resort. You can learn more in my post about Sugar Beach or BodyHoliday St. Lucia if you want to balance relaxation with activity.
On a budget? One night is absolutely doable. Arrive as early as possible, request a late checkout, and maximize every minute. Check in, take an absurd number of photos, enjoy dinner, do a night swim, then soak in the tub with the Kai Belte bath salts (I loved them so much I ordered more when I got home). Wake up, take another million photos, order breakfast to your room, lounge by the pool, then shuttle down to the beach after checkout for a full afternoon before moving on.

This Jade Mountain St. Lucia review comes down to one thing: this resort is next level. It’s an investment in yourself, your relationship, and slowing down. If you can swing it, stay at least two nights—you will not want to leave after one. This is, without question, the best resort experience I’ve ever had.
If you’re planning your stay and want to explore options, you can find hotels near Soufrière here to compare stays, or pair Jade Mountain with another part of the island for a split stay.

I walked through the gates and immediately understood why people fly back to Curaçao just for this place. 🌴
23 rooms. Private beach. A Balinese-inspired resort built stone by stone by the owners themselves. Buddha statues next to conch shells. Candles lit everywhere at night. Beachfront dining that eats like fine dining but feels like you’re just having dinner on the sand.
It’s currently the #1 resort in the Caribbean and after spending time there, I get it completely.

I walked down to the beach and immediately noticed how calm the water was. 🐚
It sits in a small cove, so there’s really no waves pushing in. You just walk right in without thinking about it. I grabbed my snorkel (they actually rent them for free at the resort, which I didn’t expect) and went out near the pier and stayed way longer than I planned, because the water was that clear.
Honest caveat: if you need a lot of energy and activity at a beach, this probably isn’t it. It’s quiet, it’s calm, and you’re mostly just... sitting there. Which for me was exactly the point.☀️

Dinner at Baoase in Curaçao isn’t just a restaurant, you’re walking into a full resort setting where everything feels intentional. The table is right by the water, the food is French-inspired with tropical and Asian flavors woven in, and the whole thing moves slowly in the best way. We sat there for hours and didn’t want it to end.
✨ Culinary Beach Restaurant, oceanside tables, candlelit ambiance
✨ French-inspired menu with tropical and Asian influences
✨ Service that’s attentive without being over the top
✨ The kind of dinner you’re still thinking about days later
Fair warning: this isn’t a casual grab-a-table kind of spot. You’re making a reservation, thinking through your outfit, and blocking off the whole evening and it’s worth every bit of that.
If you’re celebrating something or just want one dinner that feels a little extra, this is where to do it. Full Baoase resort review linked in bio. 🔗
Curaçao has the beaches everyone talks about, and then it has these. The spots that made this trip actually feel like mine weren’t on any resort map. I found them by renting a car, asking locals, and just following what looked good.
✨ Playa Lagun: a calm little cove where the water does all the work
✨ Playa Kalki: rocky entry, but the snorkeling right off shore is worth it
✨ Playa Jeremi: no rentals, no crowds, no setup. Just the beach
✨ Fort Nassau: watched the sun go down over Willemstad and stayed for dinner
✨ Hofi Cas Cora: breakfast on an actual farm and the freshest food of the whole trip
✨ Willemstad Street Party: I had no idea Thursday nights turned into that. Just followed the music.
✨ Playa Forti: cliff jumping and amazing food, talk about dinner and a show!
Honest caveat: if you need everything planned and structured, a few of these will feel a little too unpolished. But if you like the kind of trip where the best parts are the ones you stumble into, this is exactly that.

Here’s the thing about Curaçao that nobody talks about enough there’s really no bad time to go. 🌤️ Outside the hurricane belt. Mid-80s nearly every day of the year. Colorful buildings no matter what month it is.
But there IS a difference between going in peak season vs. shoulder season, and it shows up in your wallet, your beach chair availability, and how long you’re waiting for a table at dinner.
Full breakdown of every season, what to expect, and when I’d personally go linked in bio.
