Romantic Getaway in Columbus – 2-Day Itinerary

Columbus may not be the first city you think of when planning a romantic weekend, but it should be. It’s walkable, full of hidden gems, and packed with cozy restaurants, boutique hotels, and scenic spots that make it easy to slow down and reconnect. Here’s my perfectly planned 2-day itinerary for couples who want a mix of good food, strolling neighborhoods, and a little adventure.

Day 1: Check-In + German Village Charm

Where to Stay:
Check into Hotel LeVeque, Autograph Collection — one of my favorite hotels in downtown Columbus. The Art Deco design, celestial theme (think starry night ceilings and constellation details), and sweeping river views make this stay feel luxurious and special. If you’d rather be in a neighborhood setting, book Le Méridien The Joseph in the Short North for a modern, artsy vibe within walking distance of restaurants and murals.

Afternoon Stroll:
Head to German Village, one of the most romantic neighborhoods in the city. The streets are lined with red brick, the homes look straight out of a European town, and it’s perfect for an unhurried afternoon walk.

Don’t Miss:

  • The Book Loft – 32 rooms of books connected by winding hallways, secret courtyards, and cozy corners. It feels like a literary treasure hunt and is one of the most unique bookstores in the country.

  • St. Mary’s Church & Convent Mansion – Stroll past the historic church and its former school, now a mansion, for a quiet, photo-worthy moment.

  • Local Boutiques – Pop into small shops for gifts, home décor, and candles.

Dinner:

Make a reservation at Lindey’s, a Columbus icon known for its romantic patio and perfect portions. Start with the bread and salted butter (baked fresh in Grandview), split an appetizer, and each order an entrée — their seasonal menu never misses. If you can, book a table for golden hour so you can watch the patio lights come on as you eat.

Evening:
Take a slow drive or walk back downtown and grab a nightcap at The Keep inside Hotel LeVeque, or simply enjoy the skyline view from your room.

Day 2: Short North + Scenic Sunset

Breakfast:
Start the day at Fox in the Snow Café — their cinnamon roll is massive, gooey, and perfect for sharing (though you might fight over the last bite). Pair it with a cappuccino or latte for a sweet start to your morning.

Morning Adventure:
Spend the late morning in the Short North Arts District, a neighborhood full of murals, galleries, and shops. Snap photos of the iconic arches over High Street, browse the boutiques, and grab a mid-morning coffee at One Line Coffee if you want a second round.

Lunch:
Head to North Market, Columbus’s ultimate foodie hub. Share an order of Johl Mo Mo dumplings from Mo Mo Ghar (featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives), then wander the market and pick up spices, flowers, or local honey as souvenirs.

Afternoon:
Spend a few hours outdoors. Walk or bike along the Scioto Mile, a riverfront park with fountains and skyline views. If you’re feeling more adventurous, drive to Scioto Grove Metro Park and climb the fire tower for panoramic views of the city.

Dinner:
Book a distillery tour and dinner at Watershed Kitchen & Bar. This moody, romantic spot is perfect for a final night. Order the mushroom pasta with short rib and split dessert if you still have room.

Evening:
End your trip with a sunset stroll along the Scioto Mile or a quiet moment sitting on the steps overlooking the water.

I have packing down to a science, and overpacking is part of it. ✨ After countless flights all over the world I like to think I’ve mastered the art of fitting my life into a suitcase. Of course never forgetting my must-haves like @cakesbody @thighsociety & @pranamat.

Efficiency and a little bit of chaos, just the way I like it.🙌
