You know that moment when you step onto a beach and immediately understand why it makes every “best of” list? That’s Dickenson Bay—the home of Sandals Grande Antigua. Sure, the resort has a few years on it compared to the shiny new Sandals in the Caribbean, but Antigua is about vibes, not veneer. And this one had me from the moment I spotted the cats roaming the property and flopped dramatically into the beach-entry pool (getting up, however, was more dramatic and let’s just say core strength is a work in progress). Consider this your unofficial Sandals Grande Antigua review—equal parts beach bliss, poolside comedy, and pure island charm.
Let’s break it down—because if you’re booking Sandals Antigua, you’ll want the inside scoop from someone who has eaten way too much pasta at Marios and definitely made a three-time commitment to one dessert at OK Corral.

Flying into V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU) is easy—it’s about a 20-minute drive to the resort. Sandals has their desk right at the airport, and from there your experience depends on your room level.
Luxury guests hop onto a shared shuttle, Club Level guests get whisked into the Club Lounge for champagne check-in, and Butler guests? They’re chauffeured in a private vehicle with lemongrass towels and cocktails on arrival. I stuck to Club, which gave me the right mix of pampering without needing a personal phone to summon my butler (because I would definitely be the person calling for snacks hourly).
For couples planning a stay here, my Sandals Grande Antigua Itinerary outlines a full 7-day schedule of meals, excursions, and pool time.
Luxury Rooms: Great for anyone who plans to be out and about. Comfortable, stocked with soda and water, but no room service.
Club Level: Adds perks like premium spirits, wine, room service until 10 PM, and access to a private lounge with snacks.
Butler Suites: Where the magic happens. Your butler will literally unpack your suitcase if you let them. They’ll also snag prime loungers by the pool or beach, which—let’s be honest—is the true luxury.
The resort itself is a little older, which actually works in your favor: it’s priced more affordably than the newer Sandals while still delivering a luxury all-inclusive experience.
Sandals Antigua is flat, easy to walk, and not overwhelmingly spread out. That means you can get from your room to the pool to the beach without needing a golf cart or a pep talk.
The main pool is massive, and the beach-entry side quickly became my favorite place to hang out. There’s something about slowly sliding into shallow water that just feels extra vacation-y. The general vibe here is relaxed—you’re not surrounded by people trying to outdo each other’s Instagram poses. Unless that was me with dessert at midnight, but we don’t talk about that.

Ah, Dickenson Bay. Sandals Antigua sits right on one of the best beaches on the island, and it shows. Long, wide, powdery soft sand. Calm turquoise water (though when I went in November, it was cloudy—January cleared it right up).
This is a beach you can actually enjoy all day—swimming, lounging, watersports, or just walking the shoreline. Bonus: sunsets here are pretty spectacular, the kind where you stop mid-conversation just to stare.
And of course, read up on the Best Beaches in Antigua to see why Dickenson Bay tops the list.
I came in with the usual “resort food expectations” and left… stuffed and impressed. Highlights:
OK Corral: Shockingly good Mexican food. The La Media Luna dessert was so addictive that I had it three times (once as a “to-go dessert run” before bed). Zero regrets.
Marios: Always my go-to at Sandals. The charcuterie bar is my happy place—piles of cheese, cured meats, bread, plus hearty pasta dishes to follow.
Barefoot by the Sea: Exactly what it sounds like. Dining on the sand, relaxed, casual, delicious.
Soy: Sushi that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. Perfect for a lighter dinner or snack before heading out.
Bella Napoli: When you need pizza (and let’s face it, you will), this is where you go.
Not every meal is five-star, but the standouts here definitely made me forget I was technically at an all-inclusive.
Yes, you could stay at the resort the whole time—but you’d be missing out.
Antigua Shopping Tour: Starts at Heritage Quay, wanders through the Saturday produce market, then Redcliffe Quay, and finishes at Vendor’s Mall (hello, black pineapple souvenirs).
Barbuda Express Tour: An early morning start, ferry over to Barbuda, and a full day of beaches and exploring. Worth it if you’re up for adventure.
On-Site Fun: Watersports, spa treatments, and live evening entertainment keep things lively without needing to leave.
4 Nights: Enough to get a taste of the resort and dip into Antigua’s highlights.
8 Nights: The sweet spot. You’ll have plenty of resort downtime plus enough days to explore Antigua’s beaches, English Harbour, and maybe sneak off to Barbuda.
Sandals Antigua may not be the newest Sandals resort, but it’s got character, heart, and one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. The pool is huge and perfect, the food surprised me in the best way, and yes, I may have befriended a few cats along the way. Is it the fanciest Sandals? No. But is it worth it? Absolutely.
Between Dickenson Bay, the food wins at OK Corral and Marios, and that pool I basically lived in, this resort proved why it’s still one of the classics in the Sandals collection.
You can also find more romantic options in my Antigua Honeymoon Guide—perfect for planning your post-wedding escape.
Wrap-Up:
Sandals Antigua might not wow you with marble lobbies or brand-new sparkle, but it wins with soul. It’s walkable, relaxed, and perched on one of Antigua’s most stunning beaches. Add in good food (La Media Luna forever), friendly cats, and a pool you’ll dream about, and you’ve got a resort that feels like home base in paradise. Antigua may claim 365 beaches, but for me, the one at Sandals Antigua is enough.

Here’s the thing about Curaçao that nobody talks about enough there’s really no bad time to go. 🌤️ Outside the hurricane belt. Mid-80s nearly every day of the year. Colorful buildings no matter what month it is.
But there IS a difference between going in peak season vs. shoulder season, and it shows up in your wallet, your beach chair availability, and how long you’re waiting for a table at dinner.
Full breakdown of every season, what to expect, and when I’d personally go linked in bio.
I wasn’t expecting much. I just needed dinner. 🍽️ Kome ended up being one of the best meals of the entire trip.
Wood-fired everything. A menu that actually makes you read it twice. A vibe in Pietermaai that feels nothing like a tourist restaurant and everything like somewhere locals actually go. I didn’t rush. I didn’t check my phone. I just ate, start to finish, and enjoyed every single second of it.
If you’re in Curaçao and you only have one nice dinner make it this one.

Renting a golf cart in Bimini was genuinely one of the best decisions we made the entire cruise, and if you have a stop there, I cannot recommend it enough.
✨ Off the ship and behind the wheel within minutes
✨ Multiple beaches, food stops, and random pull-offs
✨ Zero tour schedules, zero waiting on strangers
✨ Just the island, at your own pace
Honest caveat: if you prefer a guided experience with everything planned out, a tour might suit you better. But if you like doing your own thing? This is it.

50 miles from Miami. Feels like a different planet. 🌴
One day in Bimini looks like: golf cart before 9am, Bimini bread still warm from the oven, water so clear it looks fake, and a conch stand where the guy knows everyone’s name.
No itinerary needed. But I made one anyway because that’s just who I am. Linked in bio

If you go to Bimini and don’t get conch salad… what are you even doing? 🐚
I’m not exaggerating when I say this ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole trip. It’s a local staple, and after talking to enough people on the island, I realized fast, Bahamians have very strong opinions about where to get the best one.
So we made it a mission.
We tracked down the three spots that kept coming up over and over again, and I tried them all so you don’t have to guess.
