This is a standout breakfast spot. The wait staff is wonderful and helpful and kind. This is a new restaurant with a cozy southern modern vibe. It was hard to narrow down our choices and we definitely have other things we want to try next time—I’m looking at you Goat Cheese & Peach Biscuits served with strawberry jalapeño jam.
We ordered the Deep South Waffle filled with andouille sausage, corn, cheddar cheese and onions topped with two eggs and chipotle hollandaise. It was so interesting and unique. I loved it! We also got the Stuffed French Toast stuffed with coconut cream, topped with strawberry and blueberry compote. The coconut cream was so yummy! We got the Cheese Blintz—cream cheese filled crepes topped with berry compote. I liked them but didn’t love them. I felt like it needed a stronger cream cheese taste. The hash brown casserole was to die for and crispy bacon! I would come back here often!

WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge is part museum, part amusement park, and all indoors, making it a great option for rainy days, hot days, and cold days. Housed in a massive upside-down building on the Parkway, it features more than 100 interactive exhibits designed to blend education with entertainment. Inside, you can experience hurricane-force winds, lie on a bed of nails, play with giant bubbles, test your agility in a ropes course, or try out a space simulator. There are sections dedicated to natural disasters, physical challenges, light and sound, space exploration, and an imagination lab, so there’s something for all ages. On top of the exhibits, WonderWorks also offers a laser tag arena and a 4D motion ride for a little extra adrenaline.
This place is a madhouse on Saturdays so I would highly recommend coming on a weekday if possible. I had to wait over an hour to do the ropes course on a Saturday. WonderWorks is definitely geared toward families, and when I visited it was packed with kids running from one exhibit to the next. Personally, it was a little too many kids for my liking, but I can see how it would be a dream come true if you’re visiting with little ones—or if you’re just a kid at heart. The building is full of interactive, hands-on exhibits that are genuinely fun no matter your age, so if you don’t mind the busy atmosphere, it’s a great place to spend a few hours.
The Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster is one of the most popular alpine coasters in the Smokies, located in nearby Pigeon Forge. It’s the longest downhill ride of its kind in the U.S., stretching over a mile of track. After being pulled to the top, you control your own sled-style cart as you race down the mountain, braking when you want to slow down or letting it fly for a thrilling, fast-paced ride. Twisting through the forest with mountain scenery all around, it offers a completely different experience than a traditional theme park coaster because you’re outdoors, in the trees, and in control of your speed. Open year-round and even operating at night with glowing lights along the track, the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster is a must for thrill-seekers looking for a unique Smoky Mountain adventure.
Follow it up with go-kart tracks and mini golf—Lost Treasure Golf is our favorite!

I love this place! They are known for scratch-made dishes and locally sourced ingredients. Everything here is crafted with care—breads are baked in-house, meats are hand-cut and aged, and the kitchen avoids GMOs, steroids, antibiotics, and high-fructose corn syrup. The menu is big and varied, with options ranging from jumbo wings and hearty salads to steaks, ribs, chops, seafood, and creative appetizers like deep-fried deviled eggs.
Their burgers are especially popular, and the bar features a strong lineup of regional craft beers, cocktails, and wines. Inside, you’ll notice local artwork displayed throughout the restaurant, adding to its community feel, while the open, airy dining space includes a patio with roll-up garage doors that can host larger groups. Local Goat doesn’t do take-out, so dining in is part of the full experience, and reservations are recommended since it’s one of the busiest restaurants in town.
If you’re going for an appetizer, try the deep-fried deviled eggs—they sound a little out there, but they’re crispy, rich, and honestly addictive. For your main, the burgers are the star of the show. They’re huge, juicy, and loaded with creative toppings, so you can’t really go wrong no matter which one you choose. If you’re in the mood for something a little heavier, the steaks and ribs are also excellent—tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. Pair it all with one of their regional craft beers on tap or go for a cocktail if you want something a little fancier. And if you’ve saved room, check out their dessert list—portions are generous, so they’re great for sharing at the table. I also love the salads with homemade dressings and fresh veggies.
This is a great time! This is a show and dinner. The dinner is not anything fancy but it was perfect for the setting. They give generous portions for dinner. The Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud in Pigeon Forge is one of the area’s most popular dinner shows, combining comedy, music, dancing, stunts, and family-friendly fun. The show is themed around the legendary Hatfield and McCoy family feud, but instead of history lessons, you’ll get high-energy performances with singing, dancing, acrobatics, and even some jaw-dropping stunts. One of the highlights is the large on-stage swimming pool, where performers—and even trained dogs—dive in for splashy, over-the-top acts.
Along with the entertainment, guests are served an all-you-can-eat Southern-style meal with fried chicken, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, coleslaw, bread, and dessert. It’s a mix of theater, comedy, and dinner all rolled into one, making it a fun night out for families, couples, or groups visiting Pigeon Forge.

If you’re starting your 24 hours in Sevierville and Pigeon Forge near Tanger Outlets, make time for breakfast at Five Oaks Farm Kitchen. This is true Southern comfort done right — big portions, homemade flavors, and that warm, country hospitality the Smokies are known for. The restaurant sits just down the road from Tanger in a beautiful farmhouse-style building, so it feels like you’ve stepped into a modern barn straight out of a Tennessee postcard.
The menu leans hearty, so come hungry. Their Farm Fresh Breakfast Platters are huge, piled high with biscuits, gravy, bacon, eggs, grits, and pancakes that are as big as your plate. My favorite items are the Casseroles and Skillet Meals, which combine all the Southern staples in one skillet — think cheesy potatoes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and melted cheese baked to perfection. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, the Griddle Cakes and Cinnamon Rolls are both crowd favorites (and yes, the cinnamon rolls are massive).
Everything is made from scratch daily, and the service is as friendly as it gets. I love that it still feels local even though it’s one of the most popular breakfast spots in Sevierville. It’s the kind of place where you’ll leave full, happy, and possibly in need of a nap — but it’s the perfect fuel before a day of shopping or a spa session at RiverStone.
Tanger Outlets in Sevierville, often called Tanger Five Oaks, is one of the biggest shopping destinations in the Smokies with more than 100 brand-name and designer stores. You’ll find everything from Nike, Coach, and Kate Spade to Levi’s, Columbia, and Old Navy, along with shoe shops, accessories, home goods, and a few foodie stops for things like ice cream and fudge. The open-air layout makes it feel less like a traditional mall and more like a relaxed shopping village, though be prepared to do plenty of walking. Parking is free and spread out across several lots, but it can get crowded on weekends and holidays, so arriving early is a smart move. Most stores offer outlet pricing with savings around 20–40% off, and you can grab extra coupons or join the TangerClub at the Shopper Services office for even more discounts. Hours usually run 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays, though they may shift during holidays. Whether you’re bargain hunting for big-name brands or just want to browse with a coffee in hand, Tanger is a great spot to shop while you’re in the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area.
Tanger Outlets in Sevierville has a handful of food options to keep you fueled during a shopping trip. Inside the mall you’ll find a Starbucks for coffee and quick bites, along with a Ben & Jerry’s if you need an ice cream break. Right on site is The Chop House, a full-service steakhouse and one of my personal favorite places to eat in the Smokies—their steaks, chops, and seafood are always spot-on after a long day of browsing. Just outside the outlets you’ll find more casual options like Joe’s Crab Shack for seafood, Squisito Too for pizza and pasta, and Junction 35 Spirits, which combines a distillery with a kitchen and bar. If you’re in the mood for Southern comfort food, Five Oaks Farm Kitchen is just down the road and serves hearty plates of fried chicken, ribs, and homestyle sides.

RiverStone Resort & Spa in Pigeon Forge is one of those places that feels tucked away and peaceful while still being right in the middle of everything. Located just minutes from Dollywood and next to the Gatlinburg Golf Course, it offers condo-style accommodations ranging from one to four bedrooms, as well as charming log cabins for a more rustic but still comfortable stay. Most units come with full kitchens, cozy living rooms, private balconies, and fireplaces in season, making it just as easy to cook in as it is to go out.
The resort has plenty of amenities to keep you relaxed, including an indoor pool, a seasonal outdoor lazy river, hot tubs, and a full-service spa that offers massages, facials, pedicures, and indulgent packages designed to help you unwind after a busy day in the Smokies. Guests love that it’s clean, quiet, and family-friendly, yet close enough to the Parkway and major attractions that you don’t feel far from the action. It’s an ideal spot if you want the convenience of a condo or cabin with all the perks of a resort.
The Spa at RiverStone in Pigeon Forge is the kind of place you go when you need a real reset after days of theme parks, hiking, or just battling Parkway traffic. It’s a full-service spa with everything from massages and facials to body treatments, pedicures, manicures, and even salt therapy, all designed to melt the stress right off you. One of their signature offerings is the RiverStone Package, a head-to-toe indulgence that combines a massage, facial, and pedicure for the ultimate pampering session. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, with soft lighting, soothing music, and skilled therapists who make you feel completely taken care of. It’s one of the most upscale spa experiences in the Smokies, and a perfect way to slow down and relax in the middle of a busy trip.

The Appalachian is an upscale yet welcoming restaurant that puts a modern twist on traditional Southern Appalachian cuisine. Located on Bruce Street, it focuses on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and showcases the flavors of East Tennessee with creativity and flair. The menu changes often but typically features items like wood-fired steaks, rainbow trout, duck, and inventive small plates such as fried chicken skins or buffalo frog legs. With its blend of refined cooking techniques and regional roots, The Appalachian has quickly become a favorite of mine. If you’re looking for a dining experience that feels special while still paying homage to the mountains around it this is for you! I ordered the filet mignon with the potato cakes. It was super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. So so good! We started with the smoked watermelon salad which had pickled melon rind, pecans, goat cheese, and ramp vinaigrette. It was so much flavor packed into a salad. Crispy, cool, refreshing, vinegar, savory, smokey. SO GOOD! Brad had the rainbow trout which had pecans, kale, green apples, sweet corn and pickled ramps. We ended with the pot de crème, a chocolate custard with fresh berries and whipped cream. This is extremely rich so just keep that in mind—yummy but rich.
Season 101 is a stylish American bistro right in the heart of downtown Sevierville, tucked inside the historic Central Hotel on Main Street. The name says it all—the menu changes with the seasons—so you’ll always find something fresh and locally inspired whether that’s a hearty fall lamb dish, a bright spring seafood plate, or a creative twist on classic comfort food. The space itself feels polished but not stuffy, with a mix of modern design and warm, welcoming touches that make it just as good for a date night as it is for a nicer family dinner. They also have a full bar where the cocktails rotate with the seasons, so the drinks are just as thoughtfully crafted as the food. It’s definitely one of those restaurants that feels like a little hidden gem downtown but with the quality of a big-city dining spot. Since the menu changes seasonally, what I ordered may not be on the menu but to give you an idea of the yummy stuff you can order I got the BLACK ANGUS FILET MIGNON—aged center cut house-rubbed filet | marinated portobello mushroom | caramelized onions | sautéed spinach | garlic mashed potatoes | rosemary red wine demi.
The Pines is a historic 1940s theater that’s been reimagined into a modern entertainment space where you can eat, drink, and play. Once known as The Pines Theater—where a young Dolly Parton performed one of her very first shows—it now blends nostalgia with fun activities like bowling, shuffleboard, darts, retro arcade games, giant Jenga, and even snookball. The space also has a full bar and kitchen, so you can sip cocktails and snack while you play, making it a go-to spot for groups, families, or a night out. Outside, the building features a colorful mural honoring Dolly and other country music legends who have ties to the venue, making it not only a fun hangout but also a little slice of Sevierville’s music history.
Shine Girl is a Sevierville distillery founded by Danielle Parton—yes, Dolly Parton’s niece—who put a modern twist on her family’s mountain moonshine roots. Instead of the harsh, old-school stuff you might expect, Shine Girl is known for smooth, creative flavors like rosé, coconut, and even red velvet, making it approachable for just about anyone. While I’m not a drinker myself, my friends highly recommend this spot for both the fun tasting room experience and the unique bottles you can take home. It’s a stop that combines Sevierville’s rich distilling tradition with a dash of Parton family charm, and it’s quickly become a favorite in the local craft spirits scene.
I have been going to Dollywood since I was 10 years old. Dollywood is a theme park but make it southern. My favorite things at Dollywood (but know that I don’t do roller coasters) are the river rampage, the train ride, bumper cars, Daredevil Falls, cinnamon pecans, and the cinnamon bread is a must try. As long as you don’t watch them make the bread (your cholesterol will freak out with how much butter is on it) then you will be so happy you got this. I don’t think it needs any extra sauces. This bread is worth going to Dollywood. They offer seasonal shows and Christmas is especially special.
River rampage is the perfect ride. It is not too fast and makes you laugh but also gets you wet! The train ride is relaxing and fun to ride around the park.

Dollywood’s Splash Country is a large water park in Pigeon Forge, located right next to Dollywood, and it’s one of the best ways to cool off in the Smokies during the summer. The park features a mix of attractions for all ages, from wave pools and lazy rivers to big thrill slides and family raft rides. Some of the highlights include Fire Tower Falls, the park’s tallest and fastest body slide, RiverRush, Tennessee’s only water coaster, and Big Bear Plunge, a whitewater rafting-style ride. For a more relaxing experience, there’s Downbound Float Trip, a lazy river that winds around the park, and plenty of shaded cabanas you can rent for the day. Designed with the mountains in mind, the park has a natural, woodsy feel with plenty of green space and views of the surrounding hills. It’s a seasonal park, usually open from late May through early September, and it pairs perfectly with a trip to Dollywood if you want both thrills and a way to beat the summer heat.
Or choose Soaky Mountain Waterpark in Sevierville—a massive 50-acre outdoor waterpark packed with both thrill rides and family-friendly attractions. Opened in 2020, it sits right across from Wilderness at the Smokies resort and has everything from high-adrenaline rides like Avalaunch and The Edge water coasters to the Soaky Surge, a 35,000-square-foot wave pool with six-foot waves. Families love areas like The Hive, a multi-level play zone with tipping buckets, and Boomer’s Bay, which is perfect for toddlers and younger kids. There’s also Black Bear Rapids, a not-so-lazy adventure river, along with plenty of tube slides, raft rides, and splash zones. The pools are heated, lockers and cabanas are available for rent, and life jackets are provided when needed, making it convenient for guests of all ages. And let’s be real—parents especially love this park because unlike most kid-focused spots, there are bars serving beer, margaritas, and frozen cocktails throughout the property. That means while the kids are burning energy climbing, splashing, and sliding, the adults can relax with a drink in hand and call it a win-win.
If you want to stay close, The Wilderness in Sevierville usually refers to Wilderness at the Smokies Resort & Waterpark, which is a huge family resort right next to Soaky Mountain. It’s part hotel, part indoor waterpark, and part outdoor adventure hub. Guests get access to three separate waterparks—including Tennessee’s largest indoor waterpark—plus mini-golf, an arcade, laser tag, climbing walls, and even family-size cabanas. It’s basically like an all-in-one vacation spot where you never really have to leave the property unless you want to. The indoor waterpark is a big draw since it’s open year-round with wave pools, tube slides, and a giant indoor surf ride, making it popular even in winter. Staying at Wilderness also comes with perks like free or discounted admission to Soaky Mountain across the street, which makes it extra appealing for families. In short, it’s a “stay and play” resort where kids run wild in the waterparks and parents can enjoy restaurants, bars, and plenty of on-site entertainment without ever loading everyone back into the car.

A few spots to note at The Island: Key Lime pie, which is also in Key West. They are famous for their dipped pie on a stick. Byrd’s Cookies bought it from the original owner, so they also offer special key lime cookies you can only buy at the pie shop.
If you’re hungry, Mellow Mushroom is a funky, art-filled pizza restaurant known for stone-baked pies and lots of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. In the Smoky Mountains, you’ll find Mellow Mushroom locations in both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and each one has its own unique spin. The Gatlinburg location, right on the Parkway across from the Convention Center, not only serves the full Mellow menu but also offers a signature Gatlinburg-only pizza you won’t find anywhere else in the country. The same goes for the Pigeon Forge spots—both the Parkway location and The Island location have their own exclusive pies that make them stand out. It’s a fun tradition across Mellow Mushroom restaurants: every location has at least one specialty pizza created just for that community, so locals have something unique to claim as their own and travelers have a reason to try the pizza even if they’ve been to a Mellow before. Whether you’re stopping in Gatlinburg, grabbing a slice in Pigeon Forge, or hanging out at The Island with views of the fountain shows, trying the signature pie at each spot makes for a delicious Smokies pizza tour.

If you’re looking for an evening in the Smokies that mixes hearty Southern food with a healthy dose of competition and comedy, Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud Supper Show is a must-try. Located right along the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, this high-energy show combines a full buffet dinner with live lumberjack games that’ll have you cheering (and laughing) the entire time. Guests take their seats in a covered, climate-controlled grandstand while two lumberjack families—the Dawsons and the McGraws—battle it out in everything from axe-throwing and log-rolling to speed climbing and sawing contests. It’s part athletic event, part comedy show, and completely family-friendly. The crowd even gets to pick sides and join in on the fun, which keeps the energy up all night.
Dinner is classic Paula Deen comfort food: pulled-pork barbecue, mac and cheese, baked beans, rolls, dessert, and unlimited drinks. You’ll want to arrive early (about 60–75 minutes before showtime) to enjoy the meal before the action kicks off. The portions are generous, and while this isn’t fine dining, it’s exactly what you’d expect from a hearty Southern supper—warm, filling, and fun. Families, friend groups, and even date nights will find something to love here. The show is big, loud, and full of personality—just like Pigeon Forge itself—and you’ll leave smiling (and possibly humming a banjo tune).
If your 24 hours in Sevierville and Pigeon Forge turns into a spontaneous long weekend, RiverStone Resort & Spa and Wilderness at the Smokies both make it easy. RiverStone is peaceful with a luxe spa and lazy river; Wilderness at the Smokies brings the waterpark party indoors and across the street at Soaky Mountain. Or if you prefer a cozy, private mountain retreat with your own porch view. This cabin stay is a favorite of mine.

Planning to stretch the trip? Open Spend a Week in Gatlinburg and Sevierville: 7-Day Itinerary for daily breakdowns.
Crowds peak on weekends—hit WonderWorks and Tanger early, save Alpine Coaster for night lights, and book Local Goat or The Appalachian ahead. If you’re visiting in summer, pair Dollywood with Splash Country or Soaky Mountain for a 2 day adventure. And whatever you do, don’t leave Dollywood without the cinnamon bread.

Thinking about the Waterfalls of Damajagua in Puerto Plata for your Virgin Voyages excursion?🌊 Important context: I am not a thrill girl. Roller coasters make me queasy. And I still loved this.
The 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua are like a 5/10 intensity. Adventurous but very doable. Guided. Safe. Not extreme.
You can choose your comfort level and that’s what makes it so good.😍
#damajagua #puertoplatacity #dominicanrepublic🇩🇴 #waterfalls #adventure
If you’re docking in Puerto Plata and don’t want to book an excursion, this is such an easy way to spend a few hours. You can walk straight from Taino Bay. It’s flat, manageable, and felt safe with a really good mix of colorful photo ops and actual city energy.
If you only have 1–2 hours, prioritize:
📍 Umbrella Street
📍 Pink Street
📍 Centro Histórico
Have more time? Add the Malecón de Puerto Plata. Into history? Stop by Fortaleza San Felipe. We were there during La Vega Carnival, which made everything feel extra lively, but even without a festival, I’d still recommend this route.
It’s simple. It’s realistic. And it gives you a look at Puerto Plata beyond just the cruise port. 🌴✨ Save this for your next stop.
#travelling #puertoplata #dominicanrepublic #downtownpuertoplata #travelitinerary
If you’re cruising into Taino Bay, here’s what you actually need to know. I was genuinely surprised. It’s clean, modern, and way more built out than I expected. Shops, photo spots, a lazy river, restaurants you could easily spend a few hours here without feeling bored.
I left for an excursion, but coming back and spending the afternoon inside the port was actually… nice. Easy. Low stress.
If you want adventure or deeper culture, leave the port. If you want a relaxed day? You truly don’t have to. Save this for your Puerto Plata stop & read the full blog now! 🌴
I wouldn’t recommend @virginvoyages to everyone…🫢
If you’re Googling who Virgin Voyages is really for, you’re probably wondering if it fits your travel style, or if it’s just great marketing. I’ve sailed multiple times, taste-tested the ship (for research, obviously), and paid attention to the details that actually matter.
Here’s the honest answer, no cruise brochure fluff. Head to my blog to read more about planning your trip!🚢
#travelling #travelvlog #cruisevlog #cruiseship #virginvoyages
Day 2, Puerto Plata… waterfalls, city walks, and zero rush.🌴
Port day in Puerto Plata and we truly packed it in waterfalls, wandering through town, and actually having time to explore. One thing @virginvoyages does so well? Long port days. No sprinting back to the ship. No watching the clock all day.
Dinner at Extra Virgin tonight (yes, included). Fresh pasta, made to order, a menu that feels like a real restaurant not cruise food. No constant upsells. No nickel-and-diming. Dining, drinks, Wi-Fi… it’s all just handled.
You really start to see what you’re paying for and what you’re not. Ending the night with Scarlet Night! Full day out. Full night in. This is the sweet spot.✨
