If you’re anything like me, you can spot a cute boutique from a mile away (it’s a gift and a curse for my credit card). Whether you’re hunting for high-end fashion, unique local gifts, or just an excuse to grab coffee and window shop, Birmingham’s retail scene delivers in style.
This city blends Southern charm with modern flair — think brick walkways, gas lanterns, tree-lined streets, and shopping areas where you can eat, sip, and stroll all in one go. Here’s where to find the best shopping in Birmingham Alabama, from luxe boutiques to laid-back outlets (and, yes, a stop at Buc-ee’s because obviously).

Lane Parke is one of Mountain Brook’s newest and most stylish developments — a beautifully designed shopping and dining district that perfectly blends small-town charm with modern luxury. Located right next to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and the Grand Bohemian Hotel, Lane Parke feels like its own little village within Mountain Brook, where you can shop, dine, and stroll all in one gorgeous, walkable area.
The architecture has that classic Mountain Brook elegance — brick walkways, gas lanterns, tree-lined streets, and inviting outdoor patios that make it feel cozy and upscale at the same time.
The development features a curated mix of local boutiques, national retailers, and restaurants, giving it a balanced “live, shop, eat” vibe. You’ll find stylish shops for clothing, gifts, and home décor alongside cafés, dessert spots, and casual lunch favorites like Chop N Fresh, where you can grab a fresh salad or grain bowl. For something heartier, BrickTop’s offers polished American fare in a sleek setting, and Char Bar No. 7 serves classic Southern comfort food with a lively bar scene.
The Grand Bohemian Hotel next door adds a touch of resort-style luxury, complete with a rooftop bar that overlooks the gardens — perfect for cocktails at sunset. Whether you’re meeting friends for brunch, browsing boutiques, or planning a date night, Lane Parke is one of Birmingham’s most beautiful and convenient spots to spend the day. It’s the kind of place where every corner feels thoughtfully designed — modern but relaxed, refined but welcoming — and it captures exactly what makes Mountain Brook so special.
If you plan to stay nearby, check out my Grand Bohemian Hotel review for everything you need to know about this chic boutique hotel.
The Summit is one of Birmingham’s best places to spend a sunny afternoon — part open-air mall, part lifestyle hub, and entirely Instagram-worthy. Located at 214 Summit Boulevard, this retail destination spans more than a million square feet of shopping, dining, and entertainment.
You’ll find everything from high-end labels like Saks Fifth Avenue and Allen Edmonds to everyday favorites like Lululemon, Anthropologie, and Ann Taylor. It’s the perfect mix of splurge and save — ideal for when you’re in the mood to browse designer racks and grab a comfy hoodie in the same outing.
When hunger strikes, you’ve got plenty of options. Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille is your go-to for a fancy dinner, Seasons 52 serves up fresh, seasonal plates, and Culinary Dropout is perfect for casual bites, live music, and people-watching.
With its fountains, outdoor patios, and pet-friendly vibe, The Summit feels more like a small village than a mall. Whether you’re here for a shopping marathon or a leisurely stroll, it’s one of the most stylish and convenient stops in Birmingham.

If your love language is “bargain hunting,” this one’s for you. About 25–30 minutes east of downtown Birmingham in Leeds, The Shops of Grand River combine great outlet shopping with a fun, relaxed vibe. Located right off I-20, this open-air center features name-brand outlets like Nike, Coach, Levi’s, and Polo Ralph Lauren, along with smaller specialty stores and local boutiques.
It’s clean, easy to navigate, and ideal for snagging deals or just stretching your legs before heading back into the city. And if you’re planning to spend time nearby, this area is right down the road from Barber Motorsports Park, so you can easily pair a little outlet shopping with a day of adrenaline.
But don’t leave Leeds just yet — two nearby stops are worth the detour.
Right next door, the massive Buc-ee’s is a Texas-sized convenience store that’s anything but ordinary. Think spotless restrooms, rows of snacks, homemade fudge, barbecue sandwiches, and those addictive Beaver Nuggets you’ll inevitably eat half of before you leave the parking lot.
Across the interstate, Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World feels more like an outdoor museum than a store, complete with towering wildlife displays, an indoor waterfall, and aquariums filled with native fish. It’s a hit for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who loves a good flannel.
Together, Buc-ee’s and Bass Pro make Leeds one of the most entertaining and unexpected shopping destinations in Alabama — part road-trip stop, part adventure.
You can read more about nearby attractions in my upcoming Barber Motorsports Park guide.
If you like your shopping with a side of quirk and creativity, head to Five Points South and Downtown Birmingham. These neighborhoods are packed with local art, vintage treasures, and one-of-a-kind boutiques.
Start with What’s On Second, a quirky collectibles shop where you’ll find everything from old records to movie memorabilia. Just a few blocks away, Naked Art Gallery showcases handmade art, jewelry, and home goods from local Alabama artists — perfect for picking up a unique gift (or ten). And Charm is a can’t-miss for local jewelry lovers, featuring handmade pieces that blend Southern flair with modern design.
This area feels electric — a little vintage, a little bohemian, and a lot of fun. After shopping, grab dinner at Chez Fonfon or Hot and Hot Fish Club, or see my 5 Dinner Spots in Birmingham post for more foodie favorites.

If you want a small-town shopping experience without leaving the city, head to Homewood. Its main drag, 18th Street South, is lined with locally owned boutiques, home stores, and cafés that give it a cozy, community feel.
Don’t miss Alabama Goods, a shop dedicated entirely to locally made products — from pottery and candles to state-themed souvenirs. Three Sheets is a must for design lovers, with stylish linens, home décor, and gifts that strike the perfect balance between Southern and chic. For fashion and accessories, pop into Soiree, and when you’re ready for something sweet, grab a treat from Sassy Bake Shop nearby.
Homewood feels like a mini downtown where everyone actually knows your name. It’s the kind of place where you’ll leave with shopping bags in hand and a mental note to come back next weekend.

If you’ve ever wanted to pretend you’re shopping in a quaint European town (minus the jet lag), head to English Village in Mountain Brook. With its tree-lined streets, charming old architecture, and cluster of locally owned boutiques and cafés, this little pocket of Birmingham is as photogenic as it is walkable.
Our favorite spot here is Vino, an upscale restaurant with Mediterranean and Italian-inspired dishes, twinkle lights on the patio, and the kind of romantic atmosphere that makes you want to linger. From spicy pan-seared Gulf shrimp to braised rosemary lamb shank and that creamy goat-cheese pasta that lives rent-free in my memory — everything’s a hit. And yes, you should absolutely save room for dessert (apple fritters à la mode or crème brûlée, take your pick).
After exploring English Village, head over to Country Club Road for some casual mansion-admiring and fantasy home shopping — because sometimes window-shopping real estate is part of the fun.
This area is also full of great restaurants and local gems. Brick & Tin is beloved for its farm-to-table sandwiches and soups, Daniel George (dg) offers creative Gulf-inspired dishes in an intimate setting, and Key Circle Commons brings craft cocktails and live music to a stylish evening hangout. For a burst of color and flavor, Frida’s Mexican Restaurant serves vibrant dishes and fresh margaritas on a sunny patio. And don’t miss Continental Bakery, where the pastries taste as good as they look.
With boutiques, cafés, and fine dining all within a few walkable blocks, English Village perfectly captures the “shop, sip, and stroll” energy that Birmingham does best.

If you love creative, design-driven spaces, Pepper Place is your shopping dream come true. Known for its famous Saturday farmers market, this revitalized industrial district has transformed into one of Birmingham’s coolest hubs for makers, designers, and local flavor.
Beyond the market, you’ll find stunning home and décor stores like Design Supply, FarmStand by Stone Hollow Farmstead, and SoHo Retro. Each shop feels like its own little discovery — think statement furniture, curated gifts, and locally made goods you won’t find anywhere else.
If you go on a Saturday morning, you can start with a coffee from Red Cat or June Coffee, browse the open-air market stalls, and pop into design studios along the way. Between the fresh flowers, live music, and local art, Pepper Place perfectly captures Birmingham’s creative side.
Mountain Brook Village is one of the three main “villages” that make up the city of Mountain Brook — along with English Village and Crestline Village — and it might just be the prettiest of the bunch. Designed in the 1920s as one of the South’s first planned residential communities, this area still feels timeless, with elegant architecture, lush landscaping, and a sense of neighborhood charm that makes you want to stay awhile.
Located near the intersection of Cahaba Road and Montevallo Road (and not far from the zoo and gardens), Mountain Brook Village offers a polished but welcoming vibe. You’ll find boutiques, home-decor stores, and locally owned shops sprinkled between cozy cafés and restaurants.
Grab lunch at Chez Lulu, a charming French café with fresh sandwiches and pastries, or stop by Gilchrist, a nostalgic soda-fountain-style spot locals have loved for decades. And if you’re looking for a post-shopping drink with a view, the nearby Grand Bohemian rooftop bar is the perfect spot to unwind.
Between its beautiful setting and small-town feel, Mountain Brook Village captures the kind of Southern sophistication Birmingham is known for — relaxed, refined, and full of charm.

Whether you’re browsing designer racks at The Summit, discovering local treasures in Mountain Brook, or snagging outlet deals in Leeds, shopping in Birmingham is anything but ordinary. Each area has its own personality — from the polished elegance of Lane Parke to the cozy charm of English Village — and together they show off the best of the Magic City’s style.
So grab your wallet (and maybe an extra tote bag), because the best shopping in Birmingham, Alabama, is waiting — and trust me, it’s worth every swipe.

I walked through the gates and immediately understood why people fly back to Curaçao just for this place. 🌴
23 rooms. Private beach. A Balinese-inspired resort built stone by stone by the owners themselves. Buddha statues next to conch shells. Candles lit everywhere at night. Beachfront dining that eats like fine dining but feels like you’re just having dinner on the sand.
It’s currently the #1 resort in the Caribbean and after spending time there, I get it completely.

I walked down to the beach and immediately noticed how calm the water was. 🐚
It sits in a small cove, so there’s really no waves pushing in. You just walk right in without thinking about it. I grabbed my snorkel (they actually rent them for free at the resort, which I didn’t expect) and went out near the pier and stayed way longer than I planned, because the water was that clear.
Honest caveat: if you need a lot of energy and activity at a beach, this probably isn’t it. It’s quiet, it’s calm, and you’re mostly just... sitting there. Which for me was exactly the point.☀️

Dinner at Baoase in Curaçao isn’t just a restaurant, you’re walking into a full resort setting where everything feels intentional. The table is right by the water, the food is French-inspired with tropical and Asian flavors woven in, and the whole thing moves slowly in the best way. We sat there for hours and didn’t want it to end.
✨ Culinary Beach Restaurant, oceanside tables, candlelit ambiance
✨ French-inspired menu with tropical and Asian influences
✨ Service that’s attentive without being over the top
✨ The kind of dinner you’re still thinking about days later
Fair warning: this isn’t a casual grab-a-table kind of spot. You’re making a reservation, thinking through your outfit, and blocking off the whole evening and it’s worth every bit of that.
If you’re celebrating something or just want one dinner that feels a little extra, this is where to do it. Full Baoase resort review linked in bio. 🔗
Curaçao has the beaches everyone talks about, and then it has these. The spots that made this trip actually feel like mine weren’t on any resort map. I found them by renting a car, asking locals, and just following what looked good.
✨ Playa Lagun: a calm little cove where the water does all the work
✨ Playa Kalki: rocky entry, but the snorkeling right off shore is worth it
✨ Playa Jeremi: no rentals, no crowds, no setup. Just the beach
✨ Fort Nassau: watched the sun go down over Willemstad and stayed for dinner
✨ Hofi Cas Cora: breakfast on an actual farm and the freshest food of the whole trip
✨ Willemstad Street Party: I had no idea Thursday nights turned into that. Just followed the music.
✨ Playa Forti: cliff jumping and amazing food, talk about dinner and a show!
Honest caveat: if you need everything planned and structured, a few of these will feel a little too unpolished. But if you like the kind of trip where the best parts are the ones you stumble into, this is exactly that.

Here’s the thing about Curaçao that nobody talks about enough there’s really no bad time to go. 🌤️ Outside the hurricane belt. Mid-80s nearly every day of the year. Colorful buildings no matter what month it is.
But there IS a difference between going in peak season vs. shoulder season, and it shows up in your wallet, your beach chair availability, and how long you’re waiting for a table at dinner.
Full breakdown of every season, what to expect, and when I’d personally go linked in bio.
