If you want to experience Dubai without feeling rushed, overwhelmed, or stuck in traffic half the trip, 5 days in Dubai is the ideal amount of time. This itinerary is designed to flow geographically, balance iconic sights with slower luxury moments, and let you hotel-hop in a way that actually makes sense.
Dubai is extremely easy to navigate once you arrive. You’ll use almost no cash, as card and Apple Pay work nearly everywhere. If you bring cash, 50–100 AED total is plenty for small tips or markets. Tipping is light and optional, and many restaurants include a service charge.
One thing to know: tap water isn’t always offered at restaurants, so carrying your own water during the day is normal.
For everything else—customs, dress expectations, transportation, safety, and common first-timer mistakes—check out my Dubai Travel Guide: Everything to Know Before Visiting before your trip.
For flights, I always start with Skyscanner so I can compare routes, prices, and arrival times without opening a dozen tabs. Dubai International Airport is massive and busy, so plan to arrive at least three hours early. Expect long walks between security and gates, and if you’re connecting, give yourself a generous buffer.
Days 1–2: Dubai Marina
Base yourself at Millennium Place Marina Dubai. This area is walkable, full of restaurants, and perfect for easing into the city. If you want a convenient home base, you can read my blog Millennium Place Marina Dubai or browse if you are ready to book you can do that here.
Days 3–4: Palm or Beach Resort
Primary recommendation: Atlantis The Palm
Secondary option: The Ritz-Carlton Dubai, JBR
Atlantis is the full Dubai wow-factor—immersive, over-the-top, and packed with experiences. The Ritz-Carlton is a calmer, beachfront alternative that still feels luxurious and relaxed. You can read my full review of Ritz-Carlton Dubai Jumeirah and Atlantis The Palm Dubai Review if you want to compare locations or pricing then you can book them here.
Days 4–5: Desert Escape
Finish your trip at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort, where the pace slows down and the setting feels completely different from the city. If you want to lock this in early, you can check availability for Bab Al Shams here. If you want the full breakdown then you can read my full review of Bab Al Shams Desert Resort.

If you’re flying into or out of South Florida, chances are you’ll pass through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).✈️
• Only 10 min from the beach & cruise port — perfect location!
• 4 color-coded terminals — Yellow, Red, Purple & Green
• Gate C tip: water bottle fillers are UPSTAIRS, not at the gate level
• Arrive 2 hrs early for domestic, 3 hrs for international flights
• Food options include Shake Shack, Starbucks & more — eat AFTER security
• Uber/Lyft pickup is easy & organized — but wait 10-15 min if surge pricing is high
• Rental car center is near Terminal 1 with all major companies available
• Cruising? FLL is basically next door to Port Everglades — super convenient!
My Fort Lauderdale Airport guide covers what to expect before you fly, from terminal layout to transportation and food options.
Head to the blog to read exactly what you need to know…✨
Is one day in Fort Lauderdale enough?🤔
Yes. Between the bakeries, murals, shops, canals, and beach access, one day in Fort Lauderdale is plenty of time to see a lot especially if you focus your time around Las Olas Boulevard.
You can start the morning with coffee and pastries, walk past murals and shops, see the canals, spend time at the beach, and still have room for gelato and a giant Italian sandwich.
If you’re looking for an authentic Italian bakery in Fort Lauderdale, Pan’E Dolci Bakery Fort Lauderdale is absolutely worth a stop. This café-style bakery is known for its Italian pastries, desserts, coffee, and massive savory sandwiches. The display cases are filled with cannolis, cookies, croissants, and breads, and they even have 22 flavors of homemade gelato.
Everything looks so good that it’s honestly hard to decide what to order.
