If you want to experience Dubai without feeling rushed, overwhelmed, or stuck in traffic half the trip, 5 days in Dubai is the ideal amount of time. This itinerary is designed to flow geographically, balance iconic sights with slower luxury moments, and let you hotel-hop in a way that actually makes sense.
Dubai is extremely easy to navigate once you arrive. Youβll use almost no cash, as card and Apple Pay work nearly everywhere. If you bring cash, 50β100 AED total is plenty for small tips or markets. Tipping is light and optional, and many restaurants include a service charge.
One thing to know: tap water isnβt always offered at restaurants, so carrying your own water during the day is normal.
For everything elseβcustoms, dress expectations, transportation, safety, and common first-timer mistakesβcheck out my Dubai Travel Guide: Everything to Know Before Visiting before your trip.
For flights, I always start with Skyscanner so I can compare routes, prices, and arrival times without opening a dozen tabs. Dubai International Airport is massive and busy, so plan to arrive at least three hours early. Expect long walks between security and gates, and if youβre connecting, give yourself a generous buffer.
Days 1β2: Dubai Marina
Base yourself at Millennium Place Marina Dubai. This area is walkable, full of restaurants, and perfect for easing into the city. If you want a convenient home base, you can read my blog Millennium Place Marina DubaiΒ or browse if you are ready to book you can do that here.
Days 3β4: Palm or Beach Resort
Primary recommendation: Atlantis The Palm
Secondary option: The Ritz-Carlton Dubai, JBR
Atlantis is the full Dubai wow-factorβimmersive, over-the-top, and packed with experiences. The Ritz-Carlton is a calmer, beachfront alternative that still feels luxurious and relaxed. You can read my full review of Ritz-Carlton Dubai Jumeirah and Atlantis The Palm Dubai Review if you want to compare locations or pricing then you can book them here.
Days 4β5: Desert Escape
Finish your trip at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort, where the pace slows down and the setting feels completely different from the city. If you want to lock this in early, you can check availability for Bab Al Shams here. If you want the full breakdown then you can read my full review of Bab Al Shams Desert Resort.

If someone told me Iβd spend five hours at SkyPark, I would not have believed them. And yet. π
Gatlinburg SkyPark sits above the strip and itβs one of those places that looks like a quick stop on paper and turns into most of your afternoon. The SkyBridge alone is worth it β longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America, and yes, you will look down.
β¨ SkyBridge (longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America)
β¨ SkyLift ride up with views of the Smokies
β¨ Walking trails with mountain views in every direction
β¨ Way less crowded than downtown
Fair warning: if heights genuinely freak you out, the bridge might not be your thing. The rest of the park is still 100% worth it. Full guide with tickets, tips, and what to skip linked in bio. π
I walked into Goo Goo Cluster in downtown Gatlinburg thinking Iβd spend five minutes and leave with a small piece of candy. I was wrong on both counts. π
You build your own chocolate cluster at a kiosk: caramel, sea salt, pretzels, cocoa pebbles, you name it, and then watch them make it right in front of you. The whole thing takes about 15 minutes and costs $15.
The caveat? This is not a snack. This is a full-size brick of chocolate that I was still eating two days later.
If youβre already walking the Gatlinburg strip, this is an easy yes. Especially if you have absolutely no self-control around caramel. (Asking for a friend.) Full experience breakdown linked in bio. π
Your Knoxville Airport survival guide, from someone whoβs flown through TYS 100+ times is now up on my blogπ«
Parking, TSA wait times, where to grab food before your flight, rental cars, all of it, from someone who actually knows this airport. No guessing, no googling at the last minute.
TYS is small, easy to navigate, and honestly one of the less stressful airports Iβve been through. You just need to know a few things going in.

The Distinguished Gentlemanβs Ride is a global charity event, classic and vintage bikes, dressed-up riders, raising money for prostate cancer research and menβs mental health. The bikes are stunning. The outfits are even better.

Went in for Italian. Left thinking about pasta for three days straight.π
Osteria Stella in Knoxville is THE date night spot, pink door, moody lighting, and a radiatori con broccoli pesto that I would genuinely go back for alone. The lasagna comes out as its own perfect slice with crispy edges all around. The focaccia with garlic confit disappeared before anyone admitted to eating it.
Make a reservation. Order the pasta. Thank me later.
