7 Days in Dubai: A Complete Week-Long Itinerary (With Abu Dhabi + Desert)

If you want to experience Dubai without feeling rushed, overwhelmed, or stuck in traffic half the trip, 7 days in Dubai is the sweet spot. A full week lets you slow down, experience multiple sides of the city, hotel-hop intentionally, and still fit in the desert and Abu Dhabi without burnout.

This itinerary is summarized on purpose. Each day gives you a clear plan without micromanaging every hour, and I link out to deeper guides where it makes sense so you can customize based on your interests and energy level.

At a Glance: How This Week Flows

  • Day 1: Dubai Marina or Abu Dhabi

  • Day 2: Downtown Dubai icons

  • Day 3: Old Dubai β†’ Resort check-in

  • Day 4: Full resort day (Atlantis or Ritz-Carlton)

  • Day 5: Desert drive + Bab Al Shams

  • Day 6: Full desert day at Bab Al Shams

  • Day 7: Abu Dhabi (if not done earlier) or slow desert morning

Before You Go

Dubai is extremely easy once you’re there. You’ll use almost no cash, tipping is light, and Apple Pay works nearly everywhere. One thing to know: restaurants often don’t offer tap water, so carrying your own during the day is normal.

For everything elseβ€”customs, dress expectations, transportation tips, and common first-timer mistakesβ€”check out my full Dubai Travel Guide: Everything to Know Before Visiting.

Where to Stay This Week

  • Dubai Marina (1–2 nights):
Base yourself at Millennium Place Marina Dubai. It’s walkable, well-located, and ideal for arrival days. If you want a convenient home base, you can read my blog Millennium Place Marina DubaiΒ or browse if you are ready to book you can do thatΒ here.

  • Resort Stay (2 nights):
    Primary: Atlantis The Palm
    Secondary: The Ritz-Carlton Dubai, JBR
Atlantis is immersive and iconic. The Ritz-Carlton is calmer, beachfront, and relaxed. You can read my full review ofΒ Ritz-Carlton Dubai Jumeirah andΒ Atlantis The Palm Dubai ReviewΒ if you want to compare locations or pricing then you can book themΒ here.

  • Desert Stay (2 nights):
Bab Al Shams Desert Resort β€” the perfect way to slow the trip down at the end. If you want to lock this in early, you can check availability for Bab Al ShamsΒ here. If you want the full breakdown then you can read my full review ofΒ Bab Al Shams Desert Resort.

Final Thoughts

Spending 7 days in Dubai gives you space to enjoy the city instead of racing through it. This itinerary balances modern highlights, cultural neighborhoods, resort luxury, and a true desert escapeβ€”while keeping the flow realistic and the pacing comfortable. It’s the kind of trip that lets Dubai show off why people love it once they experience it for themselves.

The tulip fields in the Netherlands look exactly like the photos, except the photos don’t capture how massive the color blocks actually are stretching across the countryside. Or the windmills. Or the sheep randomly standing in the middle of everything like they don’t know they’re in the most photogenic country on earth.

The honest caveat: tulip season moves fast, the fields rotate every year, and peak bloom is not a guarantee, it depends on the weather, the harvest schedule, and a little bit of luck. But that’s also part of what makes it feel less like a tourist attraction and more like something you actually found.

Amsterdam has a way of making you feel like you need to see everything, and then rewarding you most when you slow down anyway. The museums and canal cruises are worth it, but so is just wandering neighborhoods, eating whatever looks good, and sitting along the canals with a grilled cheese and nowhere to be.

There’s a version of Gatlinburg that’s all fudge shops and tourist crowds, and then there’s the version that actually makes you want to come back.

Here’s everything worth doing downtown, in the order I’d do it: πŸ”οΈ

✨ Start at @gatlinburgskypark before the crowds hit
✨ Walk the strip mid-morning when it’s still manageable
✨ @googooclusters stop (see my post from Tuesday: don’t skip it)
✨ Dinner at one of the local spots off the main drag
✨ Wander back out at night when the lights are on and it gets actually pretty

This isn’t your overscheduled Smoky Mountain itinerary. It’s more of a β€œhere’s what I’d actually do if I had one solid day” kind of list.

If someone told me I’d spend five hours at SkyPark, I would not have believed them. And yet. πŸ˜…

Gatlinburg SkyPark sits above the strip and it’s one of those places that looks like a quick stop on paper and turns into most of your afternoon. The SkyBridge alone is worth it β€” longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America, and yes, you will look down.

✨ SkyBridge (longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America)
✨ SkyLift ride up with views of the Smokies
✨ Walking trails with mountain views in every direction
✨ Way less crowded than downtown

Fair warning: if heights genuinely freak you out, the bridge might not be your thing. The rest of the park is still 100% worth it. Full guide with tickets, tips, and what to skip linked in bio. πŸ”—
